Colle Palombaia is the ideal destination for those seeking absolute peace and wild nature, a hidden oasis just a few minutes from Marina di Campo.
The beach is about 300 meters long and is quite wide, with gravel, partly with sand.
It is also frequently called "Spiaggia dei Cento Scalini" (beach of the hundred steps) due to the more than one hundred granite steps that you have to go down to reach it.
Surrounded by steep granite cliffs, Colle Palombaia remains sheltered from the northern winds and exposed to the winds from the south.
It is a recommended destination for snorkelers: in fact, the seabed slopes gently and varies from sand to rocks after a few tens of meters from the shore, making the sea an intense blue.
Unlike the nearby beaches of Cavoli and Marina di Campo, Colle Palombaia is little frequented, perfect for those seeking tranquility even in high season: in fact, the steps to go to reach the sea and the few services on the beach discourage many.
There is only a small bar with sun lounger and umbrella rental (White Elephant Beach, tel. +39 345 5949244).
How to reach Colle Palombaia:
The beach is located just 2.5 kilometers from Marina di Campo, along the provincial road towards Cavoli: near the junction for San Piero and Sant'Ilario, there is a large dirt car park and after a few tens of meters, on the left, a sign indicates access to the beach, along a flight of over 100 steps leading down to the sea.
